Peace negotiations needed
If Israeli and Palestinian leaders can come together and negotiate a just peace, checkpoints, the Gaza blockade, and other safety measures can be removed and the issue of settlements can be resolved. That's what we need to be encouraging.

Removal of checkpoints
As terrorism from the West Bank decreased, Israel removed most checkpoints, allowing Palestinians to travel relatively freely within the West Bank. In 2008 there were 40 checkpoints, and today only 13 remain.
